Wild Words Book Programme

Conditions for submission of work

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY BEFORE MAKING A SUBMISSION

 

  1. The programme is run by the Wild Words Children’s Book Festival.
  2. By making a submission you are deemed to have accepted these conditions and be bound by them.
  3. Submissions will only be accepted on-line through wildwords.ie
  4. Submissions must be made before midnight on the closing date of the competition. The recorded electronic time of receipt will be deemed to be the date and time of submission.
  5. The programme is open to young people between the ages of 14 and 18 years of age as at the first day of the festival. The festival reserves the right to ask for proof of age from entrants.
  6. Submissions may be short stories or poems. Maximum word count5000 words.
  7. Submissions must be the entrant’s own original work.
  8. Submissions must not have been published previously in print form.
  9. Works submitted to Wild Words in previous years should not be resubmitted.
  10. Entrants can make multiple submissions.
  11. There is no fee for making a submission.
  12. Submissions must be in Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) or Open Office (.odt) formats only.
  13. Each piece of work submitted must have the title, entrant’s name and date of birth on the first three lines at the top of the first page.
  14. All submissions will be assessed by the Editor and the decision of the Editor is final.
  15. Entrant must complete all essential elements of the entry form.
  16. Entrants must have consent from a parent or guardian who will be deemed to have accepted and be bound by the conditions of the programme.
  17. Where submissions are being coordinated by teachers on behalf of their pupils, the teacher must ensure that each pupil completes application as described or alternatively collects the required details, including names and contact details of parents/guardians and makes an individual submission for each student on their behalf.
  18. All works selected will be published in the Wild Words anthology, which will be published during the Wild Words Festival in Leitrim.
  19. The authors of all works selected will be invited to take part in a free two-day masterclass during the festival facilitated by leading authors. All entrants not selected for inclusion in the anthology may still enrol in the masterclass programme for the reduced fee of €30.
  20. The authors of all the works selected will receive two complimentary copies of the book.
  21. Inability to attend the book launch or masterclass programme will not affect eligibility for inclusion in the book. Those selected must confirm whether or not they will attend the masterclass programme by the date specified on the invitation. Failure to respond to the invitation will be treated as an inability to attend.
  22. By making a submission you are deemed to have given consent to, if selected, having the work published as part of the Wild Words anthology.
    1. Each entrant and his or her parent or guardian, if selected for publication, gives Wild Words Children’s Book Festival permission to use and publish his or her entry in any media and format throughout the world, including in the Anthology and on the Wild Words Website.
    2. Each entrant and his or her parent or guardian waives all moral rights in his or her submission to the Wild Words anthology.
    3. Each entrant warrants that nothing in his or her entry will infringe the copyright or any other intellectual property right of any third party or defame any third party.
    4. Each entrant selected for publication and his or her parent or guardian agrees to sign a release form assigning copyright in his or her entry to Wild Words Children’s Book Festival and confirming the permissions, waivers and warranties given above.
  23. Entrants to the programme consent to the use by Wild Words Children’s Book Festival of their name, age and town of residence to announce the details of those selected for publication.
  24. Wild Words Privacy Policy and Terms of Use of the Website are on www.wildwords.ie. Entrants will be deemed to have accepted the Privacy Policy and Terms of Use and be bound by them.
